The story of Sheila & Kingsley

Some love stories are written quietly, long before two people ever meet. Sheila and Kingsley’s story is one of those rare, breathtaking reminders that God is always at work—across continents, through prayer, patience, and divine timing. As a Fort Wayne wedding photographer, it was an honor to document a day so deeply rooted in faith, purpose, and love.

Years before their paths crossed, Sheila wrote a prayer on January 2nd, 2014, addressed to a man she did not yet know—her future husband. In it, she committed her heart, her faith, and her life to God, asking to become the kind of wife God desired for him. She prayed for purity, grace, perseverance, and trust, ending with the words: “See you at God’s appointed time.” That prayer sat saved in her email for five years, waiting for its fulfillment.

At the same time, on the other side of the world, Kingsley was on his own journey of faith. Living in Nigeria, he carried a deep conviction that his future—and that of his family—would be established in America. Though he tried to settle down there, every attempt failed. A pastor later confirmed what Kingsley had sensed all along: his wife was not in Africa. With faith and obedience, Kingsley shifted his focus toward immigrating to the United States, trusting that God was leading him toward something greater—even when he couldn’t yet see the full picture.

Waiting, however, is never easy.

Sheila faithfully prayed and stepped out in hope, even when relationships didn’t work out. Twice, God used pastors to remind her that her husband was not in America—a truth that challenged her expectations. Still, Sheila wrestled with uncertainty until one defining moment during worship, when she heard God speak clearly to her heart: “He will come to you. I will bring him to you.” With renewed peace, she chose to wait, trusting fully in God’s perfect timing.

The Day Has Arrived

Sheila woke up that morning with an unexplainable sense of anticipation, filled with joy and expectation. She took her time getting ready before heading to the mall with her friend Leah—unaware that her life was about to change forever. As they finished shopping and walked toward the exit, Kingsley was walking in.

Kingsley had just arrived in Fort Wayne and wanted to make his new apartment feel like home. Looking for Nigerian spices to cook, Google led him to the mall—ironically, a place with no African grocery stores at all. What seemed like a simple errand was, in truth, divine intervention.

At that exact moment, God aligned their steps.

No introductions. No coincidences. Just perfect orchestration.

Looking back, both Sheila and Kingsley recognize God’s hand in every detail—from the prayers whispered years earlier to the precise timing of that ordinary afternoon. God wanted all the glory, and they joyfully give it to Him.
